Normally I don't write on controversial topics.
Hundred years from now people will read history books of this time frame and be like, What is going on here in this time . It is so confusing ,In one part of the world there is the restriction placed on education due to harsh incorrect interpretation of religious Laws. While in other parts where the same Law is followed women are in the forefront in terms of education. And in extreme contrast to both such cases here comes a group of self righteous individuals claiming that the hijab should come off if she wants education.
The Hijab is frowned upon citing claims of patriarchal societal origins and somewhere in all that a discussion of uniformity needed in school areas pops up.
This writing is not for the people of today but for that small girl (with hijab or without hijab) that will be reading a history book quite confused on what was going on here.
Lil girl I know you will be thinking being a women in the 21st century was so hard. Someone always dictated what she was allowed to wear. But these rare cases are only isolated to certain locations and it is not all gloomy. What a girl wears has and always will be a topic of discussion, why that happens is quite mind boggling. But if you takeaway anything let it be this that , Although it looks gloomy we have Women leading countries, huge corporates, boxing, taking part in athletics with and without the Hijab
And although you may see media coverage from our time here portraying Hijab as something evil and oppressive you will have Women fighting for the rights to wear it.
It is what it is and being a proud son of a business women who ran a business in a foreign country learning a foreign language while still wearing a Hijab I can say without any doubt that Hijab is not oppressive nor is it a patriarchal symbol but it a beautiful , humble, modest symbol that has much deeper connection to tradition . End of the day please just stay out of peoples wardrobes ,let them wear what they want. And most importantly stop being oppressive let that Lil girl 100 years from now smile at what we have accomplished. Until next time Peace out Mike dropped
